Hello!
My name is Amanda and I’ve been working with families and children for 18 years across various domestic employment roles, including nanny, family consultant, and household manager. Throughout my career, I e often worked with new parents and mothers in the postpartum period, and have had the privilege of hearing their birth stories told in a very personal, honest way. Some of these stories were positive; some weren’t; some were a blur, and some were transformative–but almost all of them included one similar element: each one wished they had done something different, where if they’d known the options or choices, not felt the pressure to make a decision, or lack of information, perhaps their experience would have been different.
So in the fall of 2023, I felt a shift in my work with a call to the birth world; to honor the sacredness of the experience as a witness and advocate. I decided to pursue training as a holistic full-spectrum doula, and completed my certification this past December. I aim now to use my knowledge to help parents understand informed consent and reclaim their right to a self-directed, uninterrupted, autonomous, sacred birth. My goal is to create a client-first practice where advocation and information takes precedence for both the birthing person and their partner. By offering resources, I can provide continuity of care, work with you to create a birth plan, and help you decide the setting that resonates most with your intention–whether it is at home, in a hospital, or a water birth.
I am a lifelong learner and when I’m not supporting families, you will find me reading, writing, or doing something artsy, outdoors, or food-related! But no matter which route you choose or what services you need, I am thrilled to support your journey.
